Applications open for Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching

Presidential Awards for Excellence

Applications for the prestigious Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are now open. This year’s award cycle will recognize outstanding secondary teachers in grades 7-12 from each state.

PAEMST applications will be scored based on five dimensions of outstanding teaching: mastery of content, instructional methods and strategies, assessment use, reflective practice and lifelong learning, and leadership in education outside of the classroom.

Presidential Awardees receive:

  • A certificate signed by the President of the United States.
  • A trip to Washington, D.C., to attend a series of recognition events and professional development opportunities.
  • A $10,000 award from the National Science Foundation.
  • Access to a network of award-winning teachers from across the country.

Teachers can apply or be nominated at www.paemst.org. Applications are due Feb. 6, 2025.
