Help us find the 2024 SD History Teacher of the Year
Do you know an exceptional history teacher? The South Dakota State Historical Society is looking for nominations for the 2024 South Dakota History Teacher of the Year. Nominees for this award may be elementary or secondary teachers of history or social studies in public or private schools. They must have a minimum of three years teaching experience in their field.
Nominations for the History Teacher of the Year may be made by students, parents, colleagues, administrators, or anyone who is familiar with the teacher’s work. Once nominees are received, the State Historical Society will send each nominee an application packet, to be filled out by the applicant and reviewed by the selection committee.
The winner of the award will be named the 2024 History Teacher of the Year for South Dakota. The individual’s name will be listed on the Governor’s Awards for History display in the Cultural Heritage Center in Pierre, and they will be invited to attend the State Historical Society annual meeting in the spring.
Nominations must be made by Feb. 23, 2024. Nomination forms may be requested by emailing Awards Coordinator Kevin Larsen, or by calling (605) 773-6000. For more information, visit the South Dakota State Historical Society Events and Educational Opportunities page.
