Content Standards: Under Review
Academic content standards provide a road map for what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade. South Dakota's content standards are reviewed regularly, as required by state law. Standards in the content areas noted below are currently under review.
The review process involves a series of four public hearings hosted by the South Dakota Board of Education Standards and held over a period of at least six months.
Persons interested in providing feedback on the proposed content standards have several options to do so. Written public comment may be provided online by following the links below. Written comment may also be mailed to the Department of Education, ATTN: Public Comment, 800 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501. Finally, individuals may provide testimony by appearing in-person or remotely at one of the four public hearings.
Registration for the next hearing will open on April 3, 2023.
