Content Standards: Under Review
Academic content standards provide a road map for what students should know and be able to do by the end of each grade. South Dakota's content standards are reviewed regularly, as required by state law.
Persons interested in providing feedback on the proposed content standards have several options to do so.
- Written public comment may be provided online by following the links below.
- Written comment may also be mailed to the Department of Education, ATTN: Public Comment, 800 Governors Drive, Pierre, SD 57501.
- Individuals may provide testimony by appearing in-person or remotely at one of the four public hearings.
You may register to testify for the Feb. 23, 2026, public hearing in Pierre, SD by completing theBOES registration to testify form. For questions or issues with registration, contact Anna King at 605-773-5669.
Board of Education Standards' public hearing schedule:
- Feb. 23, 2026, 9 a.m. - Pierre
- May 4, 2026, 9 a.m. - Rapid City
