CTE for Core Content
South Dakota schools may allow students to earn academic credit by completing approved Career and Technical Education (CTE) courses that align with relevant academic standards. To offer such credit, districts must submit an application to the South Dakota Department of Education for approval.
- Initial applications and modification requests must be submitted by December 1 of the school year in which the course will be offered.
- Applications received after this date will be considered for the following school year.
- Applications typically take 6–8 weeks to process and may be returned for revisions if they do not meet expectations.
- Recommendations for new CTE courses to be considered for core content credit must also be submitted by December 1 for implementation in the next school year.
