Literacy Blueprint courses
The South Dakota Department of Education has partnered with the state's public universities comprehensive foundational literacy courses rooted in the Science of Reading. These "Literacy Blueprint" courses aim to equip South Dakota educators with the crucial knowledge and skills needed for effective reading instruction. These courses are available now and must be completed by Sept. 30, 2026. A new round will open in fall 2026.
Serving as a key component in fostering reading proficiency, the courses will ensure that educators are well-prepared to support literacy development in young learners. Through the application of research, innovative teaching methods, and a commitment to educational excellence, this curriculum will empower teachers to unlock every child's reading potential, contributing to their long-term academic and personal success.
