2 Year Program Requirements
New Teacher
Eligibility Requirements: Per SDAR 24:41:01:01
- Must be a first or second-year teacher employed by a South Dakota Public School (or started teaching no sooner than January of 2025)
- Must hold a valid South Dakota Teaching Certificate upon submitting application

(2) Webinars (Fall and Spring)

Total Hours: 45
Mentor
Eligibility Requirements: Per SDAR 24:41:01:01
- At least five years of teaching experience, one of which is within the last seven years in a school or other education related field
- Can document experience within the past seven years in an educational field relative to the Five Core Propositions of the National Board Professional Teaching Standards
- Must hold a valid or expired South Dakota Teaching Certificate upon submitting application

Total Hours: 49
Compensation
Upon completion of the two-year program, certified teachers who have a teaching certificate will have met the requirements to renew their certificate. Mentors will receive a $1000 stipend per new teacher when the requirements have been met.
