Certification system temporarily unavailable. The Department of Education is building a new educator certification system, with an expected launch in late February 2023. At this time no new applications are being accepted, including 2023 renewal requests. These requests and all supporting documentation should be held until the new system is live.
During this transition time, Department of Education certification staff are preparing the new system and have limited time for email and phone responses. Responses are currently delayed by about one week due to additional work associated with the system build.
Thank you, in advance, for your patience as we work to make a better system for you.

To be certified to teach an assignment or act as an administrator or education specialist, certified educators must have the appropriate endorsement that meets state certification. An educator must request an endorsement be added to a certificate. This will not be automatically added after passing the state-designated test or completing the requirements of the endorsement.
According to ARSD 24:28:18:05, coursework required to add an endorsement must be completed within the 10 year period prior to the application.
