Recognizing South Dakota’s Literacy Initiative

The South Dakota Department of Education is committed to ensuring all students are proficient readers, and the best way to get there is through instruction grounded in the Science of Reading (SoR). Our literacy initiative encompasses SOR principles and provides resources aimed at equipping educators with the latest research and best practices for teaching students how to read and write.

New Literacy Coaching Program Launches Through Statewide Partnership

Educators across South Dakota can now train as literacy coaches through a joint program by DSU, SDSU, and the SD DOE – earning graduate credit along the way.
